Halloween Door Decoration

So I have been trying to come up with a new Halloween door decoration.  So I found some inspirations on Pinterest (of course).  So this is my version.

1st I spray painted the embroidery hoop black.

I found a piece of scrap fabric cut a C out of Wax paper with my cricut, and Ironed it onto the fabric where I wanted it.
Spray painted it,  I did it in quit a few light coats because I did want it to bleed under the wax paper.
Then I placed it in the hoop, trimmed the back and found some fabric to hang it with.

I love how it turned out.

I have some votives candles that have just been sitting in a box since we moved. So I took some black vinyl, cut out some spiders.  They are my sons favorite especially when they are lit.

Drawer Organization

How many of us have drawers in our kitchen that look like this?  I have quite a few.  I am also not a fan of the ones that you buy in the store because they just slide around, and they never stay where you put them.

So out of some simple trim pieces that I bought from a hardware store I made my own, and they will never move.

1st - I cut my trim pieces to make a rectangle that are the exact dimension of my drawer.

Next - I glued them together and slid them in place, you want a nice snug fit so that they will not slide or you can also glue them in place.

Now I have a few more drawers to do.

Halloween Update

It is time to get ready for Halloween.  The other day I got out my halloween box and I had this old sign that I made years ago, but I never put it out because I knew I could do so much better.  So here is the REDO.

I love it,  Halloween Subway art.

Pottery Barn Knock Off

I found this awesome Pottery Barn shelf that I thought would be perfect for my sons room. He needs a place where he can neatly display his legos, and also hang stuff.  I figured it would serve a great multi use purpose.

First cut a 1X6 to your desired length.

I cut my side scrolls to a length of two feet, then I traced my desired shape and cut it out with the scroll saw.

Last I cut a 1X4 to the length in between to the two scrolls, and nailed it all together.

After a lot of sanding and puttying I was finally ready to paint it.

After I got it all finished I realized he might need a second one he has a lot of legos, but the next one will not have hooks.

Traveling Bag

I made the cutest traveling bag today, and I was so proud of myself it was the first time that I have ever put in a zipper, usually I still just have my mom do it for me.  Now I just need to go on a trip so I can use it.

You will need 4 pieces of fabric cut to 18 X12

One 18inch Zipper

And a sewing Machine with a zipper foot

Start with your first fabric face up then place your zipper in the middle followed by you next fabric face down.

Use Your zipper foot
Next do the same thing with the fabric on the other side of the Zipper.

Iron your fabric so that the top and bottom fabrics is laying away from the zipper.
Next take the four pieces of fabric and lay together with the zipper positioned at the top and sew the four pieces of fabric together at the bottom.
Then lay your material so that the bottom seam and zipper are both in the middle are laying on top of each other and sew the two sides .  From this point on I found it easiest to work with the zipper only half way zipped up.
Last, take all four corners of the bag and sew them on a diagonal about four inches from the corner.
Reverse and walla you have the perfect cosmetic traveling bag.
