Endless Possibilities

When it comes to 2x4's and 1x4's the possibilities are endless.

Here is a fun project that I made with a 1x4, that you can get from any local building supply store.

If you have kids you need a growth chart and if you are like us you have moved quit a few times so it is nice to have a portable one that you can take with you.

1st~ Cut your 1x4 to length, I made mine 4 1/2ft tall.

2nd~ Paint it.

3rd~ Add your vinyl

An Outdoor Feel

It's amazing what a few stars can do.

I thought this gave me sons room that little extra pop, he loves the out doors and camping especially. And their is nothing like sleeping under a blanket of stars.

I just cut them out of vinyl, because if I ever want to change them I can.

Use could use this same concept with Polka dots or flowers for a little girls room.

Feeling Lucky

These are the St. Patricks day shirts that we did last year, my kids loved them and wore them all year round.

Isn't amazing what a little bleach can do.

I know monster trucks don't have a lot to do with April Fools Day but I wanted it to be something that he would like.

*First cut your image out of wax paper I used my cricut to do this.

*Take the part of the image that you don't want bleached and iron it on to the shirt.

*Mix together one part bleach to two parts water in a spray bottle.

*Spray the part of the shirt that you want bleached and let it sit until it starts to change colors.

*Remember it is not an exact science so you don't know how it is going to turn out.

Organize it!!!

{Label, Label, Label}

For me when it comes organization especially in my children's rooms, it always helps to label everything. It helps them find things, and makes it so they are more likely to put things back were they belong. It truly isn't that what it is all about, everything having its own place.

1st Try

Today I decided to try my hand at Appliqué. I have never done it and have some seen so amazing projects that I would love to try.

I also wanted to try cutting fabric with my cricut.

First, I took the fabric and ironed on some instant heat bond so that it would be a little

stiffer during the cutting process. (follow the heat bond instructions)

I then ironed it on to the the shirt of choice for this project I decided

to use one of my daughters pajama shirts, because if you mess it up it isn't really a big deal.

Then I took my sewing machine and sewed around the outer edge,

so during washing it will never come off.

So how did I do.

I need to work on my sewing technic but I will diffidently try this again.

Key Chain Hook

I don't know about you but I was always looking for my keys, so I found a solution to my problem. I make this cute key rack with a piece of 1 x 4.

Cut it to your desired length

Find some hooks that you love at any hardware or lumber store

Paint it and then apply any decal that you like, and wall-ya you will never have to look for your keys again.

Its Amazing what a little paint can do!

We all have one of these ugly knife racks in our kitchen, and it is not economical to go and buy a new one.

So why not paint it. I painted mine a taupe color because I want it to go with whatever colors I plan to have in my kitchen in the future.

I also had a scrapbook paper that I just love, so to give my knife rack a little more character I modge podged it on the front. Also don't forget to vanish it because it is in your kitchen it is going to have to be wiped down eventually.

My husband laught at me when he got home, but I think it is awesome.

Rustic Candle Holder

Oh the things you can do with a 2x4.

One of my favorites is making rustic candle holders. They are inexpensive and easy.

First cut the 2x4 to length I usually do 2ft. Then measure the placement of were you want the tea light candle to sit, remember they always look better in an odd number.

Drill the holes with a drill press or a drill to the diameter of the tea light candle. Paint and antique however you want it.

Then place in your candles.

I have made these for wedding gifts and family events. They are super cheap.
