Making the World a Little Cuter

I don't know about you but we are really excited to get outside once it warms up, and in our case when the wind stops blowing.

So the other day we were getting out all of our biking stuff and my daughter has this really pretty purple helmet but it just needed something else. So we added some vinyl flower decals to it.
I like to think that today I made the world a little cuter.

Shelf Inspiration

Do you remember this ugly wall in my bathroom? I do.
Then I framed some fabric that I just love, which made it look alot better.

Then last week I was on Poppies at Play and I was inspired by this Post Shelfy, Shelf, Shelf.

So I build my version.
I love how it turned out.

Children's Art Display

This is a very simple project that I made for each of my children's bedrooms so that they can easily display what ever they want without putting tons of holes in the walls.

I took a simple 1x4 that you can get at any lumber store cut it to length then glued some clothes pins on, and then I spray painted them. I chose spray paint because I didn't want to have to paint each one the the clothes pins by hand.

Framing Fabric

Here is a picture of one of my BORING bathroom walls.

My bathroom needs a lot more color. I don't know about you but I find myself in a color rut more than I would like to admit.

I save alot of my fabric scraps because you never know when they are going to come in handy. This fabric that I used is from the Amy Butler Lotus collection.

I love it :)

Before & After

My husband build this shoe bench for me a couple of months ago but I felt it needed a little something extra.

So I added some #'s for a little more visual interest.

More Painted Fabric

So after I spray painted my first fabric I was a little hooked and I had an idea for another one.

I love wide striped fabrics but of course they are hard to come by or else when you find them they have a price tag that I am just not willing to pay.
This one I made a 3 inch wide stripe and I used my cutting board to make sure I got my lines strait.
And of course I turned it into another pillow.

Painting Fabric

Today I decided to try painting some fabric, I have seen a couple different techniques for this, but I decided to try spray painting. I have to say I love how it turned out.

Things that you will need:
Vinyl, linen fabric, and Outdoor spray paint of choice.
1st- Cut out your pattern of choice

2nd- Place the vinyl on your fabric

3rd- Spray paint, make sure you let it dry in between coats, make sure you do thin multiple coats because you don't want it to bleed under the vinyl.

4th- Peel the vinyl off

And just for a heads up, after I let it dry for 24 hours I washed it in the washing machine, and it washed beautifully, no bleeding or fading.
This is my finished product a couch pillow.

St. Pattys Day

St. Patricks day (March 17th) is right around the corner.

The Last two years I have made shirts for my kids here is a link to last years shirts.

This year we decided to make them with the Silhouette heat press Vinyl.
It makes for such a simple, fun, creative project, and the best part is they will be able to wear them all year round.
All you need is some Heat press vinyl, a silhouette or cricut machine, your home iron, and a pillow case because you don't want to iron directly on top of the vinyl. The hardest part is remembering to reverse the image before you cut it out, I can't tell you how many times I have forgotten to do this.

It's in the Details

Over at 320 Sycamore a few weeks ago I saw a great blog about the different uses for simple inexpensive metal buckets.

I myself always keep a few on hand, there is one in my kids bathroom to hold their toothbrushes, and also love to use them for Bar-B-Q's to hold utensils.

So I thought how could I spruce up the one in my children's bathroom, so I just added a little vinyl swirl decal.

Don't forget to check the ones over at 320 Sycamore
